Nancy Wilson (jazz singer) was born to Olden Wilson, the Chillicothe ironworker on 20 February 1937. She was the daughter of Lillian Ryan worked as a household servant. Nancy is the youngest among six children. Nancy was inspired by her father's taste in music and records played in the house. It was clear that she wanted to be a singer when she was 4 years old. Nancy released her debut recording through Dot Records during the time she spent in this band. Cannonball Adderley encouraged her to move into New York to further her career and she went to The Big Town in 1959. Within a month she got a job singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club situated on Boston Road in The Bronx where Adderley's agent heard her, and she was signed.
