Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder professionally Winona Ryder, was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder's father was from the Jewish family. Ryder considers herself Jewish. She is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. In the year Ryder was only seven her family moved in Mendocino County California. The family resided in an area without electric power. Ryder was a voracious read and would spend her days reading books as she was not able to watch TV. Ryder aged 12 took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In 1986 she landed her first role on the big screen in the film Lucas aged just fifteen years old. Ryder suffered from bullying at her high school. She hoped that her career in acting would change this. It was not to be. Still she continued pursuing her goals. Her breakthrough occurred in the year 1988, when Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played successful roles in various films. In 1993, she was nominated twice at the Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence.
