Nancy Wilson is a Grammy Award winning jazz singer. She was born the 20th of February, 1937 in the city of Chillicothe, Ohio to Olden Wilson who worked at an ironworks and Lillian Ryan, a former domestic employee. Nancy was the youngest of six children. Her father was a fan of music and loved to play records at home. It had a huge influence on her as a child. When she was just four year old, she realized she would be a singer. She developed her talent due to her participation in the church choir. When she was 15 when she was 15, she got a spot on a talent show on TV and started appearing regularly in The Skyline Melodies Tv Show while at the time she was still in high school. That same year, Nancy started to work at nightclubs. Nancy graduated high school at the age of 17 and then attended Ohio's Central State College, now Central State University for a entire year. Then she dropped out to pursue a career as a professional musician. In 1956 she released her debut album along with Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band. They toured together from 1956 through 1958. While in the group Nancy recorded her first album on Dot Records. Cannonball suggested that she relocate to New York and go to The Big Town to continue her professional career. She was commissioned to sing in The Blue Morocco Night Club located in The Bronx, where Adderley's agent had seen her. Agent Adderley signed her to Capitol in the year 1960. Her debut was that year. Guess Who? Capitol issued 5 Nancy Wilson Albums in 2 years. Under the direction of Cannonball Adderley Wilson's leadership, Wilson started focusing on R&B however she soon switched to torch and jazz. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley formed a band in 1962. This led to her rise up the charts. The year 1963 was when she achieved her biggest hit with Tell Me the Truth. The performance led her to a spot at the New York Coconut Grove in 1963, America's most popular nightclub.
